The Knights of the Zodiac also know as Saint Seiya (Seinto Seiya) started in 1986 as a manga series, later it was turned into a popular Anime series. Five mystic Saints or Knights garbed in sacred armour which have been designed using star constellations that they use as their guardian angels. The saints battle to defend the Greek goddess Athena in her battle with the other gods to dominate earth.
Saint Seiya was finally translated into English in 2003 and opening up Saint Seiya to a whole new generation of fans. Bandai created the first Saint Seiya action figures which contained most of the original characters from the Anime series and they were a huge success in not only Japan but across the globe in Europe and even South America!
Collectors are always on the look out for the very early Saint Seiya figures and they can now bring quite high prices if in good condition. Odin’s God Cloth and Kraken Isaac are two that are particularly sort after.
In 2003 a new line of Saint Seiya action figures was launched by Bandai called Cloth Myth Action Figures, they had originally only intended to release 5 figures due to the Hades series being freshly turned into an Anime, but they sold so well that they continued production and now there are over 60 Saint Seiya Action Figures, of the new series to collect, with more being added all the time!
